The Itinerary — 6 Days, 5 Nights
Day 1
Arrive to Adirondack Regional Airport (SLK) by early evening where transportation to your hotel will be waiting for you. Travelers on this AstridTravel Club Trip to Lake Placid will have the pleasure of staying in the classically Adirondack-style Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, one of the area’s finest hotels.
Upon arriving, check-in to your room and take your time to relax and refresh before enjoying a Welcome Dinner and live music at the hotel’s casual yet refined Taste Bistro and Bar. Enjoy time to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and let yourself begin to ease into the Adirondack way.

Day 2
In the morning, embark on a tour of Lake Placid which highlights the town’s Olympic history as the birthplace of North America’s first Winter Olympics and the site of the 1980 “Miracle On Ice” in which the US Hockey Team pulled off a surprise victory over the USSR. Visit the Olympic Training Center where you might be able to meet some Olympic athletes and afterward, take a leisurely hike to the top of Rocky Ridge which offers spectacular views of Lake Placid.
Following this intro into the history of Lake Placid, enjoy waterfront dining at the quirky and quaint Lisa G’s Restaurant. In the afternoon, take a scenic ride through the Adirondack Mountains and visit Dartbrook Rustic Goods, a well-known specialty store filled with an extensive collection of Adirondacks-style decor, artwork, vintage goods, and gifts.
After doing a bit of shopping, visit High Falls Gorge, a beautiful nature park featuring ancient granite cliffs and magnificent cascading waterfalls. Take your time to relax or take some scenic photography before heading back to Lake Placid. Conclude the evening with a lakefront dinner in the classic, wood-paneled Lake Placid Pub.

Day 3
Get an early start to the day and drive south of Lake Placid to visit two of the Adirondacks’ finest examples of Great Camps, which were summer homes built by the nation’s most elite families in the late 1800s. Visiting these Great Camps will provide a glimpse into the decadent lives of the nation’s wealthiest patrons of the 19th century and highlight why they chose to spend their summers in the Adirondacks.
Your first stop will be Great Camp Sagamore, a wilderness retreat built in 1897 which once belonged to the Vanderbilt family. Take a guided tour of the rustic property and it’s grand interior before enjoying a picnic lunch and continuing the journey to the next Great Camp.
Great Camp Santanoni is considered one of the most sophisticated and distinguished of all of the surviving great camps in the Adirondacks. Take a horse-drawn carriage down the 9-mile road which leads to the Main House Complex, and embark on a guided tour of the expansive grounds and historic ruins.
Afterward, enjoy the scenic drive back to Lake Placid and have dinner at Great Adirondack Brewing Company, a family-owned, casual dining restaurant overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake.

Day 4
You’ll have the option to spend the day whitewater rafting with the Adirondack Rafting Company along the Hudson River Gorge or spend the day kayaking, canoeing and relaxing at the Mirror Lake Inn. Those wishing to take the whitewater rafting adventure will be driven 1.5 hours south of Lake Placid and spend the day rafting over 15 miles through the pristine Adirondack mountain wilderness with an expert guide.
Those wishing to remain at the Mirror Lake Inn will be given a credit to use at the spa and may spend the day at leisure. Enjoy the option to either swim, paddle along Mirror Lake, or stroll through downtown Lake Placid.
Regroup for dinner at Top of The Park Restaurant and Bar, named one of the best restaurants in Lake Placid due to its fabulous cocktails, divine cuisine, and amazing views.

Day 5
Begin the day with a scenic ride to the northern edge of the Adirondacks where you’ll visit a small, Organic Maple Syrup Farm and learn about the process of making sweet, fine maple syrup.
Then journey down the Adirondack Coast Wine Trail which stretches for miles between the Adirondack Mountains and the western shores of Lake Champlain. Enjoy the ride down quiet country roads as you pass by family farmland, orchards and vineyards. Stop for a wine tasting or two and discover the flavors of this new and upcoming wine region. The grapes grown in this area are hearty and robust, made to withstand the harsh northern winters. Many of the wines you’ll sample are made from grapes that have only been introduced to the world in the last decade or so, making this a completely unique experience!
Finally, return to Lake Placid and enjoy a delightful Farewell Dinner at The View, Lake Placid’s only AAA Four Diamond - rated restaurant. Take in the beautiful lake views as you recount tales of your adventure in the Adirondack Mountains.

Day 6
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Cancellation Policy
Cancel your trip 90 days or more prior to departure, and you will receive a full refund of any monies paid to the ATC. Cancel your trip between 89 - 60 days prior to departure, and you will receive a 50% refund. Cancel your trip between 59 - 30 days prior to departure and you will receive a 25% refund. Cancel your trip less than 30 days prior to departure, and you will receive no refund.
All cancellations must be sent via email to contact@astridtravel.com and are effective the date we receive this correspondence.
ATC reserves the right to cancel this trip for any reason. Such reasons include, but are not limited to, not achieving a minimum number of participants necessary to make the trip feasible, weather phenomena, and other unforeseen circumstances. In such event, you may choose to either receive a full refund, including the deposit, or apply your payments to another trip if approved by ATC.
Traveler Requirements
Travelers must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months following the return travel date if traveling internationally.
Travelers are responsible for making their own flight arrangements.
Travelers must provide a copy of their desired flight reservation before booking to ensure that all information is correct.

In the event that you are unable attend this trip due to an illness, family emergency, missed or canceled flight, act of terrorism, natural disaster, etc., Astrid Solo Travel Advisor, AstridTravel LLC, the AstridTravel Club LLC, nor any affiliated person or party will be held responsible for payment repatriation.
